As young people use AI to explore increasingly ambitious research questions, education must teach more than how to use the technology. We need to help students question, verify and understand their work—because AI can assist the research, but the student remains responsible for the claim.

Young people are learning to use AI faster than ever—but knowing how to prompt a tool isn't the same as knowing how to use it well. True AI literacy means learning to question outputs, recognize limitations, verify information, and understand when AI should—or shouldn't—be used. At Young Steward, we believe the next generation needs more than AI skills. They need the judgment to use them responsibly.
